Why Meter Location Matters
An accurate, GPS-verified meter location database is the foundation of modern water utility management. Without it, revenue collectors can't find customers efficiently, field technicians navigate by memory and phone calls, and managers make infrastructure decisions based on guesswork.
Phase 1: Planning (Days 1–5)
Good survey planning makes or breaks your timeline. Assign zones to field officers based on geography and existing knowledge — officers who know their zone cover it faster and more accurately.
Phase 2: Field Capture (Days 6–25)
Officers use CT GIS Field's satellite map view to navigate to unmapped customers sorted by distance. When they arrive at a meter location, wait for the GPS accuracy indicator to turn green (≤5m), take a photo, and tap Save.
Phase 3: Quality Control (Days 20–30)
From day 20, the supervisor reviews the zone completion dashboard. Zones below 85% completion are flagged for catch-up.
